Aquaforest Zeo Mix is a blend of specially selected zeolites that works as a multifunctional filter medium in marine aquariums. The manufacturer recommends it for tanks with plentiful livestock, ULNS systems and demanding marine tanks. Because of its very high adsorption capacity, it should only be used in a reef tank by experienced aquarists.
According to the manufacturer, it binds ammonia and ammonium ions in the initial phase and so holds back the rise of nitrate. It also binds phenols and heavy metals. It does not lower the potassium level in the water.
The manufacturer recommends 100 ml of the blend per 100 l of water. Rinse it in RODI water before use. Place it in a media reactor, a filter mesh bag or a sock; a fluidised filter also works. The recommended flow through the bed is 300–500 l/h. Replace the blend every 6 weeks.
Available in 1000 ml and 5000 ml packs.
