Can I put an aquarium on ordinary furniture?
Better not: a full tank is very heavy, and ordinary furniture may not carry it or resist moisture. A maker's cabinet is built for exactly that load.
How much does a full aquarium weigh?
Every litre of water weighs about a kilogram, plus the glass, substrate and stones. A 200-litre tank therefore weighs well over 200 kg.

An aquarium cabinet carries the full weight of the tank and keeps the equipment tidy. A manufacturer's cabinet is built to the footprint of a specific aquarium, so the load is spread evenly and the glass is not stressed. The range includes cabinets for aquarium series from several manufacturers.
When choosing a cabinet, first check which aquarium model it fits, then its colour and interior. If you plan to use an external filter or a CO2 cylinder, check there is enough height inside for them and that tubing and cables can be routed out of the cabinet.
Place the cabinet on a floor that can take the weight, and leave a little space between wall and cabinet for tubing and cables. Tighten every fixing and check before filling that the cabinet does not wobble. Never move the aquarium together with the cabinet while there is water in it.
