How to choose plant scissors and tweezers
A tool's shape decides where it reaches and how precisely it cuts.
Scissor shape
Straight ones cut stem plants, curved and wave ones trim carpets evenly.

Length
Choose a tool that reaches the bottom even at the deepest point.

Stainless
Stainless steel copes with water; rinse and dry the tool after use.

Do I need curved or straight tweezers?
Curved ones suit planting at the back and between stones, straight ones the foreground. Many keepers have both.
What are spring scissors for?
Short spring scissors are precise and easy on the hand, which makes them good for trimming carpets.

Planted tank care is mostly planting and trimming, which is far easier with the right tools. Long tweezers and scissors let you work without reaching deep into the water, so the substrate stays put and plants are not pulled out by the roots. The range includes straight, curved and wave scissors, short spring scissors, straight and curved tweezers and long tongs.
A beginner needs just long scissors and tweezers. If the tank has a dense carpet or many stem plants, add curved scissors and spring scissors. Always trim stems with sharp scissors, because a blunt blade crushes the stem and the cut starts to rot. Cut tops can be replanted to propagate the plants.
Remove trimmings straight away so they do not decay in the tank. Rinse the tools in clean water after use, as minerals in tank water leave a film on the steel.
