NEO Media Soft is a slightly acidic biological filter medium. This pack holds 5 l of filter media.

According to the manufacturer, Soft suits aquariums with slightly acidic water that keep plants, shrimp or South American fish. Neo Media also comes in Pure and Hard types.

According to the manufacturer, most filter media are alkaline and can raise the tank pH, while Soft is mildly acidic itself. The material holds dormant bacteria that become active on contact with water and shorten the time the nitrogen cycle needs to start. The surface area is about 4000 m² per litre, and pores of various sizes give room to large bacterial colonies. The pieces can vary in size, shape and colour, as the material is made at high temperature from natural materials.

The actual pH effect depends on the water used and the objects in the tank. The media needs cleaning from time to time.
