Limnobium laevigatum

Limnobium laevigatum is a decorative South American floating plant, 1–5 cm tall with leaves 5–15 cm wide. The plants are grown from tissue culture in a closed cup.

It particularly suits open aquariums but also traditional ones – its fine, long roots give cover to gouramis and other surface fish. On Tropica's difficulty scale it is an easy plant (Easy).

According to Tropica, after two months in the aquarium the plant is on average 3–5 cm tall or more. The plant has a medium growth rate. Light demand is low. CO2 demand is low. The plant comes from South America.

With enough nutrients and good light new leaves rise above the surface, and some must be removed so the plants below still get light. When nutrients drop, growth slows, so it indicates the nutrient level in the water.

The plant is sold in a 1-2 Grow cup.
