Heteranthera zosterifolia

Heteranthera zosterifolia is a South American stem plant that forms many side shoots and quickly makes a bushy group. The stems grow 30–50 cm tall and 6–12 cm wide; the leaf undersides often turn black.

In open aquariums small blue flowers form if some shoots are allowed to spread on the surface. On Tropica's difficulty scale it is an easy plant (Easy).

According to Tropica, after two months in the aquarium the plant is on average 20–30 cm tall or more. Light demand is low. CO2 demand is medium. The plant comes from South America.

In strong light growth is intensive, and it must be pruned before it becomes so dense that no light reaches the lower leaves. Water roots often form on the stem and are easily cut and replanted.

The plant is sold in a 1-2 Grow cup.
