Anubias barteri var. barteri is an undemanding rhizome plant from West Africa that grows larger than Anubias nana: 25–45 cm tall, with a rhizome of 10–15 cm or more.
It also suits terrariums and paludariums; herbivorous fish do not eat its tough leaves. On Tropica's difficulty scale it is an easy plant (Easy).
According to Tropica, after two months in the aquarium the plant is on average 20–30 cm tall or more. The plant grows slowly. Light demand is low. CO2 demand is low. The plant comes from Africa.
Like other Anubias, plant it in a shady spot to keep algae off the leaves. If planted in the substrate, do not cover the rhizome, as it tends to rot.
The plant is sold in a pot.
