JBL ClearMec E Filter Media Set for CristalProfi e

JBL ClearMec E is a filter media set with a nitrite, nitrate and phosphate absorber for the baskets of JBL CristalProfi e external filters.

The set helps remove nitrite, nitrate and phosphate, which come from plant debris, food leftovers and waste products, from the water.

Round foam inserts hold a net bag of special filter material in the middle. The main flow passes through the outer foam while a slower, smaller flow passes through the net bag, so the material can bind nitrite, nitrate and phosphate. According to the manufacturer nitrite is toxic to fish and can kill them from 0.4 mg/l. Nitrate and phosphate are not toxic but promote algae growth from 20 mg/l and 0.3 mg/l respectively.

Stack the foam inserts in the filter basket and place the net bag in the recess between them. Water tests are the easiest way to tell when the set needs replacing.

The set includes a net bag with absorber and two foam inserts.
