Aquaforest KH Buffer Alkalinity Salt

Aquaforest KH Buffer is a salt for keeping carbonate hardness constant in reef aquariums. According to the manufacturer, a correct KH level is needed to stabilise pH.

It is intended for reef aquariums with corals. The manufacturer recommends keeping KH at 6.5–8.5 dKH there.

According to the manufacturer, the salt dissolves quickly and is easy to dose. A sudden drop in carbonate concentration can stop nitrification altogether. The salt can also be used for a one-off increase, as 10 g in 100 l of water raises KH by about 3.3 dKH.

Dissolve 80 g of the salt in 1000 ml of RODI water. According to the manufacturer, 100 ml of the solution raises KH in 100 l of water by 2.6 dKH. Test the water before dosing and set the dose by the results and the daily consumption of the corals. The manufacturer recommends raising KH by no more than 0.5 dKH per day.
