AquaEL Sterilizer UV AS 2.0

The AquaEL Sterilizer UV AS 2.0 is a UV steriliser against green and cloudy aquarium water. Water flowing through the device is exposed to UV radiation, which damages algae, bacteria and pathogens. As the lamp only acts on organisms passing through the device, according to the manufacturer it is safe for fish and nitrifying bacteria.

There are four models – 5 W for aquariums up to 200 l (up to 400 l/h), 7 W for 200–400 l (up to 800 l/h), 9 W for 400–600 l (up to 1000 l/h) and 11 W for 600–800 l (up to 1500 l/h). According to the manufacturer, the electronic ballast uses up to 50% less electricity than an electromagnetic one, and the UV lamp lasts up to 10 000 hours.

The steriliser is part of the filtration system – a filter or pump has to push water through it. Fit it outside on the filter or pump hose or fully submerged, for example in a sump – the housing is made of UV-resistant plastic and is water-tight (IPX8). Replacement lamps are available from AquaEL.
