Does algae control harm fish and shrimp?
Dosed correctly, the products are made for tanks with livestock, but shrimp can be sensitive. Read the instructions and dose exactly.
Why do algae come back?
If the cause – too long a light period, overfeeding or unbalanced fertilising – remains, algae return.

Algae are a natural part of an aquarium, and a little of it is no problem. It spreads when plants cannot use up the light and nutrients, for example after a longer photoperiod, a fertiliser overdose, a CO2 interruption or when there are too few plants.
Liquid algae treatments bring the situation under control quickly. Black beard algae can also be spot-treated by applying the product with a syringe directly onto it. Remove dead algae by hand or let shrimp and snails eat it, so the decaying mass does not burden the water.
When using a treatment, follow the dose exactly and keep aeration strong, because decaying algae consume oxygen. At the same time, deal with the cause: shorten the photoperiod, change water more often and add fast-growing stem plants that take nutrients away from algae.
