Terrario Supai Oya Soil Tortoise Substrate

Terrario Supai Oya Soil is a natural soil-based substrate for land tortoise terrariums.

The manufacturer recommends it for tortoises such as Testudo hermanni, Testudo horsfieldii and Testudo graeca, for species from both dry and humid habitats. The substrate also suits tree frogs, tropical geckos, arachnids, snakes and rodents.

It is made from soil, peat and minerals, among other ingredients. The fine structure lets animals dig and make hollows, hides and tunnels. The substrate absorbs moisture well and helps limit unpleasant odours. Bags hold 6 l, because in a larger bag the soil gets compacted and absorbs moisture less well. Available as a 6 l bag and as 12 l (2 × 6 l), 18 l (3 × 6 l) and 24 l (4 × 6 l) sets.

Choose the layer depth to suit the tortoise's size and digging habits, deeper for keen diggers. Soiled patches are easy to sift out of the fine substrate.
