Terrario Paraguay Muds Powder Peat Substrate 5 l

Terrario Paraguay Muds Powder is a natural, fertiliser-free peat from the Heart of the Jungle series, the smallest grade of the three Paraguay Muds peat grades.

The peat suits humid tropical terrariums, tortoises in dry terrariums, plants that need acidic soil, and egg incubation. The manufacturer recommends it for land tortoises, geckos, pythons, dart frogs and all amphibians.

The peat absorbs a lot of water and keeps humidity in the terrarium high for a long time. In a dry terrarium it soaks up liquid, lets tortoises dig burrows and keeps its properties even when dry. The peat has a pH of 3.5–4.5 and can be mixed with other substrates or soil to reach, for example, pH 5 or 6. Powder is soil-like with fine fibres, plants root easily in it and it holds roots and stones firmly in place.

The dried peat can be moistened or fully soaked before use. The pack contains 5 l of peat, which gains volume after soaking.
