Choose by species: some reptiles eat plants, some insects, some both.

Lizards and snakes
Their staple is mostly live insects or frozen feeder animals.

Calcium and UVB
To absorb calcium, a reptile needs vitamin D3 and UVB light.

This category holds dry foods for turtles and tortoises. Aquatic turtles are mostly omnivores and eat more animal food while young, whereas tortoises are herbivores that need a high-fibre diet. That is why aquatic turtle food does not suit a tortoise, and the other way round.
Young aquatic turtles have a food of their own, adults a regular staple. Dried gammarus, anchovies and grasshoppers are treats that add variety but do not replace the staple and are best given a couple of times a week.
Feed aquatic turtles in the water, because they swallow their food under water. Give as much as the animal eats in a few minutes and remove leftovers so the water does not foul. For a healthy shell and bones a turtle needs calcium and UVB light, without which the calcium is not absorbed.
